Who Is Kalina?

My work is intuitive as well as inspired from a higher source the originated from an experience I had in Chaco Canyon New Mexico. Having lived in the jungle of Central America and the Concrete Jungle of New York City, it is no wonder that my paintings are as vibrant and unique as they are. I can’t take all the credit though when it is the figure’s spirit that I work closely with.

I believe that there can be an intimate unspoken relationship within art. With my current shamanic works, I see my creations evolve through a partnership between myself and the beings I paint. Through a collective influence of  ancient cultures, I continuously learn to appreciate more about humanity and can nurture the nature of peoples  differences.  

I have always pondered how we could express ourselves if we had no faces. My anthropomorphic and delicate creatures do just that: capture the beauty, color, and movement of the human spirit. The goal is to encapsulate the vibrant essence of universal expressions that transcend gender and race to embrace the collective spirit of our world.
